Summer Kripalu Yin Workshop - Saturday August 12 11.00 - 1.00

Summer brings warmth through the heat of the sun. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the season of summer and the Fire element correlate with bringing warmth, dynamic transformation and balance to the body, mind and spirit and in our relationships.

Join Val for a special two hour Kripalu Yin Yoga workshop to celebrate Summer. In this workshop you will:

·      Explore Yin Yoga postures that open up the energy channels that support spiritual awareness, joy and connection, healthy circulation and digestion.

·      Slow down and step away from our active (yang) lives.

·      Counteract our more active yoga practices and sports, by honing in on the connective tissue, bones and joints.

·      Experience long passive holdings at our “edge”.

·      Use yogic breathing and meditation to stay present and allow more opening.

The cost is $30.

Teaching Yoga for Low Back Issues - Saturday August 26 1.00pm-4.00pm

Hummingbird Massage and Yoga, 940 Haverford Road, Bryn Mawr 

This is an interactive experiential 3 hour practicum for Teachers and Yogis from all backgrounds.

Val has a wealth of experience as a “patient” with a spinal injury and subsequent low back issues. She is an advanced Kripalu Teacher with an additional 300 hours of specialized training. In this workshop Val will share her insights and knowledge from respected leaders in the medical and yoga field.

For Yoga Teachers

- Understand the most common low back issues and the cycle of pain.

- Add 8 tools to your teachers toolkit to guide your students and keep them safe.

- Feel more comfortable and confident in supporting students with low back issues.

- Earn 3 Yoga Continuing Education Credits. There is also an opportunity to attend a Mentoring Practicum later.

 For Experienced Students with Low Back Issues

- Share your experience and concerns with certified Yoga Teachers.

- Understand how yoga can help.

- Experience the postures that work for you and what to avoid in your practice.

- Learn to adapt and modify for your own health and well being.
